A lifelong devotee of science, she studied Human Nutrition with a minor in Education before attending medical school, and her research at Los Alamos National Laboratory continues to inspire the STEM elements woven into her work. Every letter and novel reflects this love of discovery, drawing upon medicine, mathematics, and the mysteries of the natural world.

When not writing or practicing medicine, she travels widely, hiking new landscapes and exploring diverse cultures—quietly gathering settings and inspiration for her next tale.
