Each letter draws from the author’s real-life experiences as a practicing physician, educator, world-wide traveler, and novelist. They feature STEM, nutrition, and education topics. Brown is a self-proclaimed nerd and loves all things scientific. Her love of science is reflected in her research at Los Alamos National Laboratory, the site for the development of the atomic bomb.
She is an involuntary insomniac who works as a medical doctor in a small Southern town and writes in her free time. She writes fiction that paints a human likeness upon the faceless and gifts a voice to the voiceless via her coming-of-age adventure stories spiced with a hint of romance, and scientific and supernatural twists.
Each letter also pulls from the characters' fictional backgrounds and includes world geography, culinary confections, diverse archeology, and ancient mysteries, some real, some imagined.
